Drywall Repair & Restoration
From minor repairs to major restoration — we make your walls smooth and beautiful again
Smooth Walls, Every Time
Dented doors, wandering elbows, water stains, settling cracks — life happens, and your walls show it. At Faulkner's Painting & Paper, we've repaired countless walls across Southern Maryland, from nail holes to holes you could drive a car through.
Here's the thing: drywall repair is all about the finish. Anyone can slap some spackle in a hole, but getting it smooth and invisible — that's the skill. We take our time with taping, feathering, and sanding until the repair disappears completely into the surrounding wall.
Whether you're preparing to sell, just moved into a new home, or finally want to address that hole from the moving day, we deliver results that look like the damage never happened.

Our Drywall Repair Process
Quality drywall repair requires patience and proper technique. Here's how we achieve invisible repairs:
1. Assessment
We examine the damage, determine the cause, and plan the best repair approach. For water damage, we identify and address the source first.
2. Preparation
We clear the area, protect floors and furniture, and prepare the surface by cleaning away loose material and priming if needed.
3. Patching
For small holes, we apply filler; for larger holes, we install new drywall patches secured with screws and backing.
4. Taping
We apply mesh or paper tape over seams and patch edges, embedding it in joint compound for strength.
5. Mudding & Feathering
Multiple coats of joint compound, each wider than the last, feathered to blend seamlessly with surrounding wall.
6. Sanding & Finish

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about drywall repair
Absolutely. We can match virtually any texture: orange peel, knockdown, popcorn, brush stroke, and more. We'll match the surrounding texture before painting so the repair is invisible.
Small repairs take a few hours and can be painted the next day. Large repairs may take 2-3 days to allow proper drying time between coats of joint compound. We'll give you a timeline during our consultation.
We prime all repairs and can include painting in your quote if you'd like. If you're painting yourself, we recommend waiting 24-48 hours after priming before applying paint.
Nail pops happen when the nail loosens from wood framing movement, usually from humidity changes or settling. We re-secure the underlying stud and use screws for a permanent fix.
It depends on the extent of damage. Minor water stains can often be primed and painted. Severely damaged, swollen, or moldy drywall should be replaced. We'll assess and recommend the right solution.
